PIN-A-GO-GO

OVERVIEW

Pin-A-Go-Go is the longest running pinball show west of the Mississippi hosted in Dixon, California. It is an annual event that brings all pinball enthusiasts from across the nation under one roof. To help visitors plan ahead, we were tasked with revamping their website and rebranding their vision in getting visitors excited and reflecting the high energy atmosphere of the playing field in order to provide a better user experience.

The Rebrand

Pin-A-Go-Go’s initial logo was unclear about what service or product they provide. So I took up the opportunity to give them a refresh in order to show what they are all about – the amazing world of pinball machines! Through research to learn more about the event, I learned that Pin-A-Go-Go is an atmosphere filled with high energy through the game-on attitude of the gamers, as well as all the noise created from the machines. Taking inspiration from this, and the retro charm of arcade machine brand logo design such as Sega, I was able to craft up a new word mark for Pin-A-Go-Go. 
In the new wordmark, the tittle from the “i” swoops up into the letter “p”, mimicking the motion of the ball as the flippers hit it. The slanted type treatment symbolizes the speed and nature of the games and the mentality of the players. Meanwhile, the bold, clean, and geometric lines gain its influence from popular video game brands like Sega.

Applying the Rebrand to the Website

After creating the rebrand, it was time to apply it to the website. Through research methods such as sketching and prototyping, I was able to learn what is the best way to improve the user interface of their website. Some items include grouping related information such as the event info together and implementing a check-out system rather than requiring visitors to line up at a booth to pay.
